Wallingford is a neighborhood in Seattle, Washington. I-5 on the east, Green Lake on the north, Salmon bay on the south and  Woodland Park and Stone Way on the west. This is one of the most popular residential neighborhoods in Seattle. It is bisected by 45th Street with its trendy shops, sidewalk cafes and restaurants. It is very family friendly and has a lot to offer prospective residents. Many of the homes in the neighborhood are craftsmen style bungalows with front porches and lots of plants and flowers in the back yards. The area is hilly which makes for some spectacular views. The I-5 makes commuting or just getting to downtown or Pike’s Market easy. Public transportation is also available.

Homes are on the pricier side in this neighborhood with renovated homes running around $600,000 ad fixer uppers in the $400,000 range.This popular neighborhood has not been affected as much as other area by the downward trend in real estate. Wallingford is a very walkable neighborhood and offers access to the Burke-Gilman Trails which is a 14-mile multi use trail. John Stanford International School is an elementary school that offers classes to students in grades K-5. It has earned a GreatSchools  performance rating of distinguished 10/10 based on test results from standardized state tests for 2010/11.

The Wallingford neighborhood has a street fair and a kiddie’s parade. The kiddie’s parade has been going on every year for over 60 years. While this is a neighborhood event sponsored by the neighborhood association, people from all over Seattle attend and enjoy.

Green Lake Park  is located on the northern border of this neighborhood. It is a much loved and used park.The lake was formed by the same glacier that produced Puget Sound over 50,000 years ago. Volcanic ash has been found in the lake from an eruption over 6500 years ago. The lake is used for lots of activities. Motors are not allowed but any craft not powered is. The park is over 300 acres and there is a 3.8 mile trail around the lake.There are two swimming beaches on the lake.There is also a community center with an indoor pool.The park has a playground, ball fields, tennis and basketball courts.There is also a nine-hole pitch and putt golf course.

The Wallingford Farmers Market  takes place in Meridian Park. It is open on Wednesday from 3:30-7:00pm from June through the end of September.The chef’s market is 3-3:30pm. 

Woodland Park is adjacent to this. It is the home to the Woodland Park Zoo as well as a variety of other activities.
