Most Romantic Restaurants in Houston

Houston is the largest city in Texas. It is home to the Houston Astros, the Houston Texans and the Johnson Space Center. Houston is also home to some of the best romantic restaurants in the Lone Star State, so finding a special restaurant for that special lady is not difficult.

Here is a list of some of the best romantic restaurants in Houston:

Mark’s American Cuisine.

There is an unspoken rule that romantic restaurants are not American. That is actually not true. Some of the most romantic restaurants in the nation offer American cuisine and Mark’s is living proof of that. Mark’s American Cuisine is located in a renovated church from the 1920s. Now while church may not be the first thought that many people have when they think of romance (unless they are thinking of weddings, but don’t worry she knows that you are not there yet) run with this for a moment. This renovated church boasts gold ceilings and candles at every table, which will create a cozy atmosphere that she will definitely enjoy.

Mark’s also boasts one of the best dinner menus in Houston. The menu features six different kinds of meat (including duck and veal, meats that are not found in many restaurants), three different kinds of seafood (including Hawaiian Escolar, a rarity outside of the Aloha State) and desserts that truly lean towards the exotic. Oh did someone mention wine? Mark’s wine list has been recognized by Wine Enthusiast, and Wine Spectator, magazines read by wine aficionados world wide. Couples will be able to pair their meal with the perfect wine, and if you have a hard time telling the difference between Borgo Magredo and Budweiser don’t worry. Mark’s highly trained waitstaff will be able to help you with your selection. So if your palette leans toward domestic dining versus imported but you still want to knock her socks off, then consider dining at Mark’s American Cuisine.

The Rainbow Lounge.

This next restaurant is for every hunter in the Houston area who is looking for both Wild Game and the chance to impress his lady. The Rainbow Lounge is housed in a 100 year old log cabin. The cabin itself is located on an acre of grounds that is also only minutes from Downtown Houston. What sets the Rainbow Lounge apart from other fine dining establishments is its unique menu.

The Rainbow Lounge is the only restaurant in Houston where customers can order Wild Boar and Texas Quail, as well as Pan Seared Red Snapper on Lobster and Yellow Tomato Risotto. As for settings, the log cabin that the restaurant is housed in offers a cozy romantic setting that will send her heart fluttering. FYI, the Log Cabin is offering a four course meal for Valentine’s Day. The menu items will include Pan Roasted Sea Bass on Parmesan Risotto with Brussels Sprouts Leaves and Lobster Ricotta, Wild Game Duo: Buffalo Tenderloin and Grilled Venison Medallion with a Butternut Casserole, Broccolini, Cipollini Onions and Maderia.

Peli Peli.

If you are looking to really impress the girl of your dreams this Valentine’s Day, then the place to go is Peli Peli. This is Houston’s only South African restaurant. Executive Chef Paul Friedman has owned and operated restaurants in South Africa and Germany. Now he is taking the dishes that he made famous overseas and brought them to the Lone Star State’s largest city. The menu includes dishes that range from the conventional (Ribeye Steak, 14 oz Center Cut Pork chop), to the exotic (Drakensberg Ribs, Madagascar Peppercorn Steak).

Couples dining on Valentine’s Day may want to consider the Capetown Skillet for two. This dish comes with Peli Peli Prawns, Sauteed Calamari, Scallops, and Peli Peli Shrimp that is served on a bed of African Rice Pilaf in a hot skillet. Peli Peli has won numerous awards including the award for the Most Romantic Restaurant by the Houston A List and the 2012 Reader’s Choice Award by the Houston Press, as well as being ranked number 2 out of 2,784 restaurants in Houston by tripadvisor.com.
