Tavern 17   

If you are looking for a great place for Thanksgiving dinner close to Rittenhouse Square Tavern 17 is serving a very special menu on that day. The specialty of the house is bites and flights, small plates with a great glass of wine of a special brew. The regular menu will be available  but traditional will also be available.

You can begin your four course meal with a choice of pumpkin pear bisque or chowder of the week;  a tavern salad or a classic Caesar; ginger orange free range tom turkey with all the trimmings; veggie Napoleon; pan seared salmon or petite grilled filet. Finish up with a great dessert choice, caramel apple pie, mile high cheesecake or 5 layer triple chocolate cake. For $30 this has got to be the best bargain in town. The Plough and the Stars

This is a true Irish restaurant and they are not suddenly become a traditional American restaurant on Thanksgiving. They will be open and they will be serving great food but  they are serving a lot in addition to the turkey.  The menu is ala carte.

You can start with chowder or soup of the day. The appetizers include a duck confit vol au vent, mussels veloute or Irish oak smoked salmon. You can also choose a salad of poached pear or a traditional house salad. For the entrée they have a roast turkey and honey glazed ham; monkfish medallions; vegetarian pasta; grilled pork tenderloin; seafood risotto; grilled filet mignon and Guinness casserole. You can be as traditional or as adventurous as you choose.
