Attractions in Ashland Oregon

Ashland, Oregon is located in the southwest section of the state of Oregon. It is one of the largest cities of the state and it borders California. It is a college town with Southern Oregon University.

The biggest and most influential attraction of Ashland, Oregon is the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. It is a festival that produces eleven plays on three stages annually. Of these eleven plays, half of them are by William Shakespeare. The seasons last from mid February through October. The campus covers 4 acres and is located next to another great attraction, Lithia Park.

Lithia Park, is registered with the National Historic Society. It has 93 beautiful acres of forested land sitting on canyon land around Ashland Creek. The name of the park came from the origins of Lithium Oxide or Lithia found in the stream water, which they use in the park by pumping it into the park grounds.

The park has a musical stage, and ice rink, two duck ponds, tennis courts and a playground. There are several community buildings for shelter and picnics. There are miles of hiking trails for the hiker, too. There are beautiful landscape areas for you to enjoy!

Another great attraction that Ashland has is The Chappell-Swedenburg House. It is located on the campus of Southern Oregon University. This house is said to represent Ashland’s long-standing commitment to education. Ashland’s history keeps it apart from other small towns because it has a pervasive interest in education and arts.

Southern Oregon University is a great attraction for many who are interested in theater arts programs. There are many other things that can be studied here as well. The university consists of three main parts. They are the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business, and the School of Education.
Schneider Museum of Art is another attraction that is a sight to attend. This museum is located on the campus of Southern Oregon State. It has several exhibitions annually. They include contemporary, ceramic, glass, paintings and sculptures. There are concerts, talks, and lectures and tours of the campus and the community.
