Ray’s Splash Planet, operated by the Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation, is an indoor water park located at Irwin Avenue Open Elementary School. The 29,000-square-foot water park uses more than 117,000 gallons of water in its eight water attractions. The Saturation Station consists of four slides, a play area and a tumble bucket. The multifunctional Sea of Tranquility is used as a two-lane lap pool or a water basketball and volleyball court. The water maintains a consistent temperature of 87 degrees F.

National Whitewater Center

U.S. National Whitewater Center is an outdoor recreation and environmental education center in Charlotte, featuring the largest manmade whitewater river in the United States. In addition to whitewater rafting, the center offers hiking, mountain biking, zip lining and rock climbing. It also gives kayak lessons and wilderness survival training.
