Albuquerque

Albuquerque, New Mexico is a great city to visit with your family. With its plethora of parks and activities there really is something for everyone. Here are some ideas for fun things you and your family can do the next time you visit:

Rio Grande Zoo and the Albuquerque Aquarium
It is always fun to visit the Rio Grande Zoo and the Albuquerque Aquarium. The zoo and the aquarium house many native and exotic species of animals and fish. Your kids will enjoy feeding the lorikeets in the zoo and looking at the jellyfish at the aquarium. The zoo also holds a fun day in the fall where kids can trick-or-treat and wear a costume called “Zoo Boo.”

Tingley Beach

Another great option to go with your family is Tingley Beach, where you and your family can go fishing in the lakes, race model boats in the pond and enjoy the cafe located at the train station.

Pueblo Indian Center

Your family will enjoy spending a day at the Pueblo Indian Center where they will learn a bit about Native American culture. If you stop in on a weekend you can see native dance and ceremonial performances. Your kids will love it!

The Albuquerque Rio Grande Botanical Garden
The Botanical Garden is a great place to visit with its beautiful outdoor and indoor gardens. The lovely glass conservatory contains plants that are native to New Mexico in addition to exotic plants. Best of all, for the kids, the Children’s Fantasy Garden is a really fun treat as well.

Old Town

Your family will also have fun walking through Old Town. This part of Albuquerque is the history and heart of the city. The plaza boasts many traditional adobe-style souvenir shops, cafes and restaurants. The famous San Felipe de Neri Church is also located in Old Town. You will love the older feel of the town.

Petroglyph Natural Monument
Just outside the city, the Petroglyph Natural Monument is a really special place that you and your family can check out. It holds many natural resources such as dormant fissure volcanoes and about 25,000 archeological carvings by Native Americans and early Spanish settlers. There are many trails where you can walk around to see many of the carvings up close.

Albuquerque Museum

This museum contains many lovely exhibits that celebrate Southwestern and Spanish colonial culture and history.
