Thompson Falls is a city that is located in the state of Montana. This city lies in Sanders County. This city was named after David Thompson who was a British Explorer and fur trader and geographer. This city has a long history that dates back to the early 1800s. In 1881, the railroad was built and two years later there was a gold rush. Thompson Falls lies in the Clark Fork Valley. Prospect Creek runs through Thompson Falls. Thompson Falls High School is a Class B school that serves this city and it offers eight different sports to students. This valley that runs along the Clark Fork River is very beautiful. Thompson Falls lies close to the Idaho border. Highway 200 is located along this border as well as National Forests.

Thompson Falls is a great place to take a family vacation as it has so much to offer like fishing, boating, hiking, mountain biking, hunting,  snowmobiling, skiing and much, much more. This is a quiet valley that has a lot to offer residents and visitors. Thompson Falls was established in 1885 and was a popular silver and gold mining area. Thompson Falls has a very mild climate. There are quite a few churches that welcome everyone and there are three cemeteries. There is one post office that is called Thompson Falls Post Office. The Thompson Falls Chamber offers helpful information to residents, business owners and visitors. Events take place in this city all throughout the year. There are quite a few charming towns that run along Montana Highway 200. There is also a visitors’ center that can help you plan your activities for day trips in the area.
