Vegetarian and Vegan Restaurants in Baltimore Maryland

Baltimore, Maryland actually only has two true vegetarian restaurants, one of which is totally vegan. There are also some vegetarian friendly international restaurants that serve some excellent vegetarian and vegan dishes.

For starters, there is a great little vegetarian restaurant in the city at 100 W. University Pkwy. called One World Cafe. They have an enormous menu of vegetarian dishes for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. When they can, they use organic ingredients.

There are fifteen items on their breakfast menu alone which includes: Vegan pancakes with soy margarine, French toast, omelettes, bagels, and their famous tofu scrambler…which is served on organic multi-grain toast with soy margarine. They also have fakin bacon and soy sausage.

For lunch and dinner, the One World Cafe has some delicious soups, salads, and sandwiches. Their soup and salad choices includes: Miso soup, soup of the day, vegetarian chili, garden salad, Ceaser salad, Greek salad and spinach salad. The salad dressing is homemade.

If it’s sandwiches that you like, One World has a choice of eighteen unique sandwiches which includes: Black bean burrito, veggie burgers, boca burgers, portebello wrap, and “not” dog. In addition to all of their vegetarian dishes, they also have a great choice of different coffees, expressos, tea, liquor drinks, juices and smoothies.

Another unique vegetarian restaurant is the Yabba Pot located at 2431 St. Paul Street. This is actually a vegan restaurant, meaning they don’t serve any animal products at all. This includes eggs and dairy. There is a daily buffet as well as a soup buffet. Salads seems to be their specialty. Their Green Earth Salad is a unique combination of: Spring mix, carrots, cucumbers, plum tomatoes, purple cabbage, yellow squash and mushrooms. They also have: Live kale salad, carrot salad, royal seaweed, Teriyaki Tofu Salad, Marinated Mushrooms, Curry Spinach Salad, Live! Curry Okra, Chick-Un Pasta Salad, and Avocado Salad.

As far as vegetarian meals in international restaurants go, there are plenty of places to eat. Just like many other large cities, Baltimore is home to an array of international restaurants that serve some fantastic vegetarian dishes.

There is a great Thai restaurant, Thai Landing, located at 1207 N. Charles St. They have both a dinner and lunch menu. The dinner menu has nine traditional Thai vegetarian dishes, the most popular of which is Pad Thai Vegetarian. This consists of: Noodles, tofu, bean sprouts and spring onions stir fried with tamarind sauce, sprinkled with ground peanuts. The lunch menu has seven vegetarian dishes which includes Pad Thai Tofu, which consists of: Fried tofu, noodles, bean sprouts and spring onions stir fried in tamarind sauce, sprinkled with ground peanuts.

If it’s Indian food that you’re after, the Kumari Restaurant located at 911 N. Charles Street, has an amazing eighteen vegetable dishes. They tout their mixed vegetable curry as being their most popular dish.

If you love Chinese food, Taste of China, located at 219 E. Baltimore St. has ten tasty vegetarian dishes which includes: Vegetable fried rice, broccoli with garlic sauce, Buddhist delight, plain broccoli, tofu w/Chinese vegetables, sauteed string beans, bean curd, vegetable egg foo young, vegetable chow mein, vegetable moo shu, plus a delicious vegetable roll.

These are just a few of the many vegetarian friendly international restaurants you’ll find in Baltimore. There are also some great vegetarian friendly international restaurants in the surrounding areas as well. But, if you want a restaurant that is completely vegetarian or vegan, you can always make your way to either the One World Cafe or the Yabba Pot for extraordinary vegetarian dining.
