The Des Moines Arts Festival is a fantastic event. Held in June of each year, the festival brings together artists from all over to show off their work, including visual, dance, and musical masterpieces. Best of all, admission is free. Live Music
There are several areas where live music is performed throughout the weekend. This includes big names in music, for instance this year the festival boasted Collective Soul and Gavin DeGraw, and also local bands that are upcoming and great.

Performing Arts
In addition to the fantastic visual arts, there are several theatric events held during the weekend. This includes ballet dance performances, magic shoes, ventriloquists, balloon artists, dance performances, Shakespearean acts and more. The live street theatre is especially fun, as you can join in the acts. With the many events to choose from you will be sure to find one that will be fun for you.

Activities
There are also several special events held at the festival. For instance, there is an interactive mural created by a local artist, in which guests can add there own input into one square of the painting. It is a fun way to create a masterpiece that you can remember forever. There is also the Tiny Circus where you can join artists to create a stop-motion animation film. In addition to these large-scale activities, there are several small activities that you and your family can join in on at the event, so that you can create your own piece of art ranging from paper flowers, the memory books, to jewelry and more.
