Bars in Wilmington De

Wilmington may be “small town,” when compared to the metropolis’ of Detroit, NYC and Philadelphia, but they still know how to have a good time and have some of the best bars in the state of Delaware.  Whether you are looking for a bar with live rock bands, an Irish pub or even the upscale R&B club you won’t have to look far in Wilmington.

Pubs are among the best in Wilmington

Three of the best pubs in Delaware can be found in Wilmington.  If you are looking for a place to relax and have a couple of inexpensive beers then McLaren’s Irish Pub would be the place for you.  McLaren’s is located at 3211 Concord Pike in Wilmington, DE.  There is a casual, laid back atmosphere with $2.00 drink specials on Sundays.

If it is the best English Pub, with live entertainment, open mic night and a constantly changing beer list then Stoney’s British Pub is the place to choose.  This is the best English Pub on the Eastern Shore and it even features local talent! Stoney’s has more of a bustling, moderately noisy bar scene, and a popular draw for local singles.

Sports Bar More Your Style?

If the Irish or English pub isn’t up your alley then try one of Wilmington’s best Sports Bars.  Scrimmages is a sports bar for all ages with a casual atmosphere.  The drink prices are fairly moderate, averaging $3.00.  On the weekend nights you can find either live entertainment or a great disc jockey.

At Champps (yes that is with two Ps) Americana is the type of sports bar where you can find great food, live entertainment and even Ladies’ Night.  This is a high energy, yet casual, bar scene. Whether it’s a Lemon Drop Martini or a good Guinness beer you are looking for then Champps is the place for you.

When you are discussing the best sports bars in Wilmington, you cannot forget to mention Stanley’s Tavern.  Stanley’s has been around since 1935 and once was known as the place to gather for Sunday’s Eagle’s game.  Now it’s not just the green and white you can see there, but also their numerous awards by the News Journal and Delaware Today as Best Bar and Grill, Best Sports Bar, and Best Happy Hour; among others awards they have received going back to 1985.

Nightclubs Anyone?

If you are looking for the best bar for dancing as well as live music then Club 3 is the ideal choice! Club 3 is a more upscale dance club and they have a strictly adhered to dress code so be sure to dress to impress.  The area’s largest stage and dance floor can be found at Club 3 and they feature different themed nights, such as Disco/Boogie and House music.

No bar guide in Wilmington would be complete without mentioning Moodswings Lounge.  Another upscale lounge in Wilmington that strives for the fun and safety of everyone and adheres to a dress code even stricter than Club 3.  There are numerous events on their calendar, with something for everyone.  Whether you want to go for the bull ride or the male review you will find it on their calendar.  Ladies, Saturday is the night for you as it is Ladies Night and all ladies are admitted free of charge.

Last, but certainly not least, is Bhrand.  As usual, the best is saved for last and if it is a 25 and over, upscale nightclub you are looking for you have to check out Bhrand.  Currently they are only open Fridays and Saturdays but it is worth the week long wait for their live bands, comedy shows and even celebrities (Grammy winner Maya was once among the performers). And The Bhrand definitely has something for everyone with 2 bars, TV’s, a huge dance floor and comfortable chairs and couches to rest in between dances.

Wilmington’s Best Bars Have Something for Everyone

As you can see, there is a bar for everyone in Wilmington and they all offer something unique for you to experience.  If you are seeking casual then hit up one of the sports bars or pubs.  If it is dancing, entertainment and an older crowd you are seeking then the nightclubs in Wilmington are the best in the area; many have been said to rival those in the surrounding Baltimore and Philadelphia.
