It’s your vacation in South Norwalk, Conn. O’Neill’s is an Irish pub located at 77 N. Main Street. It has a long hardwood bar, flanked by televisions, an old giant safe from the days when the building was a bank, and a stone fireplace. It’s atmosphere is laid back and casual, so there is not need to dress to enjoy an afternoon or evening in this friendly place. It also has some great food including mussels, Cajun skewers, and shepherd’s pie, which is exceptional. You can also enjoy some Irish music with your meal and drink. Drinks run around $5 and meals are between $9 and $15 allowing customer’s to have a fun time, without hurting your pocket book.

The Ginger man at 99 Washington St. is a beer drinker’s paradise. Offering 52 different kinds of tap beer, and 80 different kinds of bottled beer from fourteen countries. For those of you who believe variety is the spice of life, it doesn’t get much spicier than this! Customers say the place has the feel of a German beer hall. While you are trying one of those new varieties of beer, you can also enjoy a meal of Ribs, pulled pork, or the traditional hamburger. Casual dress is the order of the day, and drink prices run around $5. You can have a meal for between $9 and $15.

El Acapulco is a casual Tex/Mex bar located at 84 Washington Street. It has a full bar and you can get lunch or dinner from between $9 and $15. Their specialty food items consists of Chicken Mole Pablano, BBQ chicken and Wings, and the traditional tacos, burritos and enchiladas.

The Bulldog Bar and Grill at 138 Washington Street, is a rather dimly lit, loud, high energy bar for the casual dresser. You can bring the whole family in for lunch, as long as you don’t mind a limited menu, mostly sandwiches and salads. Meals run $9 to $15.

The Black Bear Saloon is a sports bar and more located at 80 Washington Street. This English style pub sports seven medium and four flat-screen televisions, making watching any sport attractive. The saloon has live music and dancing on Friday and Saturday nights, which is great for those who feel like getting out and trying some of the latest moves.

The Loft, at 97 Washington Street, offers a night out that is a little less casual. It is a trendy Martini bar, with a sweeping staircase you can take to an upper loft and watch what is going on below. You can also dance.

Ocean Drive located at 128, Washington Street, has a full and very creative cocktail menu. They serve dinners such as Grilled Swordfish Paella, Mahogany Sea Bass, and New York Strip steak and a Sushi raw bar. Dinners run from $26 to $30. The main attraction of this bar, other than their food and drink is a ton Glass Sculpture entitled Sun Over Water, designed by Dale Chihuly. Ocean Drive, also has a busy night life.

Although South Norwalk has many more bars to chose from these are the best, in terms of price, atmosphere, and enjoyment. They are the toast of the town!
