North Pasadena Neighborhood

North Central is a neighborhood in Pasadena, California. It is located to the north of downtown.  The I-210 runs through the community giving it great north to south access. The boundaries of the neighborhood are  North Lake Avenue on the east, East Orange Grove Boulevard on the south, Oak Grove Boulevard on the west and Woodbury Road on the north. The North Central community is a mixture of residential and commercial. It is one of the more affordable neighborhood in this area. Condos can still be had for under $300,000 and single family homes are not that much more. There are a wide variety of housing styles in this area.

Washington Accelerated Elementary School is one that is available to resident of this neighborhood. It is popular with students and parents and offers classes from K-5.

For 75 years, Brookside Golf Course  has been providing a superior golfing experience for the residents of both the North Central neighborhood which it is adjacent to and to the rest of Pasadena. The 36-hole public course was designed by golf architect William P. Bell. Over the years, it has hosted many tournaments and continues to provide a very enjoyable and challenging day of golf.

Every New Year’s Day, there are many people who can’t imagine not watching the Tournament of Roses Parade followed  by the Tournament of Roses football game which takes place at Pasadena’s Rose Bowl Stadium.  The stadium, which is undergoing a major renovation, was built in 1922 and in addition to being the home field for the UCLA Bruins football team, is the site of major celebration during the year and the World’s Largest Flea Market.   The stadium is located just outside the North Central neighborhood in Brookside Park.

Located just to the south of the Rose Bowl Stadium,  the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center  offers year round swimming facilities. In addition to recreation swimming and lessons, there are special needs, rehabilitation and therapy swimming programs. This is a place for the whole family to enjoy.

Lovers of early 20th century arts and crafts architecture will enjoy a visit to The Gamble House  which is located right on the border of this neighborhood.  The house which was designed by Charles and Henry Green in 1908 was built for David and Mary Gamble. It has been designated a National Historic Landmark and is now owned by the city of Pasadena.  Tour are available.

Pacific Oaks College  has its main campus in the North Central  neighborhood. Founded 60 years ago,  this college is known for its education programs in early childhood education among other things.They focus on producing teachers who can cope with the students from diverse backgrounds and economic conditions. They also allow students to gain real life experience and use it toward their degree.

North Central is a great neighborhood for people looking to break into the housing market. It offers easy access to a variety of services and is well located for all the local amenities.
