Set on either side of the Foothill Freeway/Interstate 210 portion that runs north and south above and intersecting the Ventura Freeway, the North Central neighborhood includes the Brookside Golf Course and Arroyo Seco Park. It has a southern border at East Orange Grove Boulevard, an eastern border on North Lake Avenue, and a northern windy border on East Woodbury Road. The Foothill Freeway, Interstate 210 seems to run as a line between the Golf Course and the rest of the neighborhood, though part of the neighborhood is located on the west side of the freeway. To the north is the Hahamongna Watershed Park, and the Mount Wilson Park area. On the east residents can travel to the Altadena Golf Course, Eaton Canyon Park, and the Eaton Canyon Park Golf Course. The Annandale Country club, San Pasqual park, Arroyo Seco Golf Course, Hermon Park, Elephant Hill, Lacy Park, and the Huntington Library, Art Gallery, and Botanical Gardens are all on the southern end outside of the neighborhood’s borders. To the west is the Chevy Chase Country club, Lower Scholl Canyon Park, Verdugo Park, Glendale Community College, and the Descanso Gardens.

Incomes are not as high here as in other outlying neighborhoods. The range is from the mid-$20,000 to the low end of $100,000. It is just slightly over 5 square miles with a huge population of over 41,000 residents. As compared with other outlying neighborhoods, the North Central neighborhood has moderate housing prices from about $200,000 up to $500,000, with some reaching the million dollar mark. This area has a huge population of younger people and young adults. There are very few middle-aged and elderly residents living here. Over half of all residents are of the Hispanic persuasion, though Asians, African-Americans, Caucasians, and at least three other races also live here. The North Central neighborhood is split between very bad crime rates and very low crime rates. The closer you get to the west end the less crime is seen.
