Harvest time at Old Alabama Town is a must see event for anyone in the autumn mood. For the month of October you can visit Old Alabama Town and see how harvest was done in the 1800s.  There are over 50 buildings and structures authentically restored to their original 19th and early 20th century styles. Seeing all of Old Town, Alabama is quite easy, there are different types of tours you can join, a self guided tour, in a tour group or the kids can have fun on a school tour. Throughout the season there are numerous events for the whole family from concerts, walking tours or you can even host your birthday party or family reunion on the grounds.

Autumn would not be complete without a trip to the pumpkin patch. It is the perfect opportunity to visit The Pumpkin Patch Express. The whole family can enjoy a wonderful day of hayrides, face painting done by the clowns, a jump station and picking your favorite pumpkin from the pumpkin patch.  But, the big attraction here is the autumn train ride, so jump aboard. The train makes a stop at the pumpkin patch and the whole family can ride an old fashioned hayride to take you to the cornstalk maze, sand box, the bubble station and of course a chance to see the great pumpkin. It’s a the perfect place to find your spooky jack-o-lantern.

On a cool, crisp autumn day, what’s the best remedy for warming up? A steamy bowl of delicious chili. The Lion’s chili cook off is the best place to get your chili fix. Tickets are $10 and that allows you to sample each of the chili recipes and vote for the peoples choice award. Get your taste buds ready for some of the yummiest chili in the area.

Join the dogs for a howling good afternoon at the Howloween Dog Parade and Costume Contest.  Throw on your costume and your dogs too and head out for an afternoon of animalistic fun.  100 or more dogs in costume are expected for the parade and there are tons of prizes also.
